Geraldine E. (Jerri) (Clifton) Wagner

Geraldine E. 'Jerri' Wagner, passed away on Thursday, April 4, 2002 at Willow Wind in Prescott, Arizona. She was born in Keller, Texas, December 6, 1917 to Charles and Edna (Grow) Clifton and moved to Redlands, California, as a child.

She married Harry L. Wagner, Jr. June 23, 1938, and they moved to Prescott in 1955 with their three daughters.

Jerri was known by many as the Art Director for the Prescott Resort and Conference Center. She was very active in a wide variety of community and civic efforts serving over 10 years on the Prescott City council with two terms as the mayor. She had served as President of the Prescott Monday Club, State President of the Arizona Federation of Women's Clubs and International President of the General Federation of Women's Clubs from 1976-1978. She also held leadership positions in local and state Soroptomist, Garden Clubs and the Trinity Presbyterian Church of which she was a founding member. Mrs. Wagner was a member of a number of state and national committees for natural resource and water conservation.

She worked with the U.S. Department of State during her tenure in Washington, D.C. in connection with the Panamanian takeover of the Canal Zone. She was the founding president of the Prescott Area Art Trust and worked extensively with the Borglum family to bring the Solon Borglum collection to the Prescott area.

Mrs. Wagner is survived by her three daughters and their husbands, Jane (Robert) Hunt of Buckeye, Ariz., Jo (Larry) Lindsay of Mesa, Ariz. and De (Marvin) Pitts of Prescott, seven grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson and three sisters, Roberta Gaston and Joanna Taylor in California and Beaulah Smith in Maryland.

A memorial service will be held Monday, April 8, at 10 a.m. at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 930 Park Avenue, Prescott, Ariz., 86303.

In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions in her memory to the Prescott Area Art Trust, P.O. Box 3364, Prescott, Ariz., 86302.
