George Earl Reed

George Earl Reed, 87, passed away at the Margaret T. Morris Center on August 21, 2002 in Prescott, Arizona. Mr. Reed was born in Bisbee, Arizona on September 3, 1914 and was the son of Earl and Pearl Reed.

He lived most of his childhood in Douglas, Arizona.

He was graduated from Arizona State University (formerly ASC) in 1937. Mr. Reed was with the Arizona Rating Bureau, Fireman's Fund, and America Four Insurance before establishing his own independent agency, George E. Reed & Company. He was also an associate with Collins, Haggard & Reed Insurance Agency and Lasher-Cowie Insurance before retiring in 1978.

He and his wife Elsie have been residing in Prescott for his remaining years of retirement.

Mr. Reed was also a member of Rotary in Phoenix and was a member of Trinity Cathedral Episcopal Church in Phoenix, and later American Evangelical Lutheran Church in Prescott.

George E. Reed is survived by his wife of 62 years, Elsie Nicoll Reed, a daughter Jan Bunch of Phoenix, a daughter and son in law Joan and Steve Pierce of Prescott, and a daughter and son in law Judi and Bill Frerichs of San Antonio, Texas. He is also survived by nine grandchildren two great-grandchildren, and a sister, Virginia Brown who resides in San Luis Obispo, Calif. His parents and his sister, Shirley Smith of Tucson, preceded him in death.

George loved the outdoors and hunted and hiked over all of Arizona. His many trips were his fondest memories.

Private family services will be held at Greenwood Memorial Cemetery in Phoenix on August 24, 2002.

The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made in his memory to the Margaret T. Morris Center, 878 Sunset Ave., Prescott, Arizona, 86305.

Hampton Funeral Home assisted the family with the arrangements.
