John D. Lamon died Nov. 6, 2011, at the Marley House in Prescott, Ariz. He was born Nov. 4, 1932, in Chicago, Ill., the son of James and Mildred (Mount) Lamon.

John had many roles in his life, including his starring roles as an actor and a director, but his passions were being a teacher and helping those in need.

John was in college at St. Mary's when he was called home to help his family when his brother James died as a casualty of the Korean Conflict. He and Midge provided a loving and consistent home for his parents in their later years and for his niece and nephews. He completed his BS at Loyola University of Chicago and his MA at DePaul. He taught in the inner-city schools of Chicago for 33 years.

He fulfilled his creative side as an equity actor in musical theater in Chicago and with the Prescott Fine Arts Association, and combined both his roles by being the director of the Chicago Theater in the Streets program.

He was ordained a Deacon in the Joliet Diocese in 1989. He was assigned to Sacred Heart when they moved here in 1991, being on senior status after his 75th birthday. He was honored in 2009 with being the first recipient of the YRMC Ray Roller Chaplain of the Year Award.

Lead supporting star was his wife of 52 years, Margaret "Midge." Other cast members include his eight nephews and one niece and a cast of many who will miss the man who was always "Suspiciously Well" and knew "the best was yet to come."

Scripture rosary will be 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2011, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 150 Fleury, with visitation at 5 p.m. The funeral mass will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 10, 2011, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Final commendation and farewell will be at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Chicago, Ill.

The family suggests memorials to St. Vincent de Paul, c/o Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 150 Fleury, Prescott, AZ 86301.
