Robert W. (Bobby) Fernow of Chino Valley, Ariz. died on June 26, 2005 during a roping accident in Hillside, Arizona. Bobby was born May 12, 1929 in Ash Fork, Ariz., son of Christian Peter and Irene (Florez) Fernow.

He is survived by his wife Clara of 56 years, his son Bill and daughter-in-law Janet of Prescott, Ariz.; grandson, Grant of Prescott, Ariz; granddaughters Molly and Megan of Manhattan Beach, California; sister, Rosie Irwin of New Orleans, La.; brother Freddie Fernow of Ashfork, and Uncle Pete and Aunt Rosemary Florez of Glendale, Ariz. His son Charley Fernow preceded him in death in 2002.

Bobby was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who had an insatiable thirst for life. He was an avid sports fan who enjoyed watching and coaching his children and grandchildren over the years. He coached many years of little league and Babe Ruth and was also a Boy Scout, Scoutmaster.

Bobby retired from the Sante Fe Railroad after 43 years of faithful service. His greatest passion was team roping, where he enjoyed the kinship and comroderie of his friends and teammates.

His Celebration of Life services will be held at 10:00am, Thursday June 30th, at the Word of Life Assembly of God Church at 590 Road One North in Chino Valley, Arizona.

Interment will immediately follow at the Ashfork Cemetery, with a reception to be held afterward at St. Ann's Recreational Hall, also in Ashfork.

In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Ashfork Historical Society, P.O. Box 1234, Ashfork, Ariz., 86320.

The family would like to extend it's deepest thanks to those who rendered assistance to Bob in the arena and gave support and comfort to Clara. You are truly angels and may God bless you all.

The family is being supported by Chino Valley Funeral home in their time of need.
