Ova May Jones

Ova May Jones, 85, of Chino Valley, Ariz., passed away with family present at Yavapai Regional Medical Center, Prescott, Ariz., on Thursday, Dec. 11, 2008.

May was born in Bandera, Texas, June 12, 1923. She grew up in Kerville, Texas, as one of five children. She loved going to school. After graduating high school, May moved to Northern California where she worked in the shipyards as a welder and met her husband of 54 years, Walter Claude Jones. They had 11 children together: Eldon, Betty, Claudia, Barbara, Linda, James, Richard, Charles, Roger, Leonard, David.

May is survived by her sister Eva Kirchman and nine of her 11 children, 24 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren.

She always stayed busy working, taking care of children, and helping her husband with their many different businesses. She was a member of the Grace Baptist Church in Chino Valley.

May got great pleasure in helping people. She was a beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandma, great-grandma and friend. Her hobbies were listening to country music, puzzles, sewing, cooking, the computer, and going to "Silver Sneakers."

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2008, at 10 a.m. with Associate Pastor Paul Herr at the Hampton Funeral Home, 240 S. Cortez Street.

Interment will follow the service at the Mountain View Cemetery.

The Hampton Funeral Home was entrusted with the arrangements.
