Thomas T. Kirk

CASA GRANDE - Thomas T. "Tom" Kirk, 74, of Casa Grande died Sept. 28, 2006.

Visitation began at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Valley of the Sun Mortuary, 10940 E. Chandler Heights Road in Chandler, with the service following at 10:30.

Burial was in Valley of the Sun Memorial Park.

Mr. Kirk was born Jan. 19, 1932 in Sulphur Springs, Texas, and was a son of Luther and Beulah Kirk. He moved with his family to Coolidge in 1939. Following service in the Air Force, he worked for AiResearch Manufacturing Company in Phoenix for 40 years.

One of the founders of Cliff Garrett Memorial Rodeo, he also was active in fast-pitch softball. After retirement in 1992, he and his wife divided their time among Casa Grande, Dewey and Maui. He was devoted to his family and enjoyed family gatherings and helping his loved ones.

Survivors include his wife of nearly 53 years, LaVern; a son, Thomas of Tempe; a daughter, Jamie Scallon of Casa Grande; two brothers, Don of Coolidge and Lavon; a sister, Ann Harris of Modesto, Calif.; four grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Glenn and Danny, and a sister, Helen Nisbett.
