Roy A. Liedkie passed away Wednesday morning, June 28, at the VA Medical Center. He was born in Colonie, New York to Albert A. Liedkie and Mildred Doty.
He entered the Navy in January 1952 serving during the Korean conflict. He worked as a professional painter for the City of Oakland where he retired after 29 years.
He then became a General Painting Contractor. Retiring for the second time and, needing to be useful, became a volunteer for the Prescott VA and a caregiver / companion for needy home bound.
He enjoyed exchanging stories with the veterans and helping others.
He is survived by two daughters, Cynthia Booth of Vicksburg Miss., Jackie Wenman of Gilbert, Ariz.; and friend, Catherine Rodriguez.
A memorial service will be held July 13 at 2 p.m. at the VA Chapel, 500 N. Highway 89.
