Mattie Jane (Larremore) Vaughn

Mattie Jane Vaughn, 76, a resident of Bagdad for 58 years, died Thursday, July 27, while convalescing at her daughter's home in Chandler. Born September 29, 1929, in Humboldt, she was the daughter of Arizona pioneers William and Nellie Larremore, owners of the Feed-Fuel and General Store in Mayer, Arizona.

Mattie was a faithful and active member of the Bagdad Church of Christ. Teaching Sunday school to the children was her greatest joy in life. She also enjoyed collecting hummingbirds, quilting, crocheting, traveling, spending time in nature and watching her grandchildren in rodeos.

During the last weeks of her life, Mattie enjoyed visits from the many family and friends to whom she was always an inspiration. Mattie will be remembered for her faithfulness, loyalty, patience and loving spirit.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Troy Vaughn; her son, Larry Vaughn; her daughter, Connie Young; her sister, Mabel Bennett; her three brothers, Larry, William and Robert Larremore; six grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday, August 1, 2006, at Heritage Memory Chapel with services following the visitation.

Burial will be in the family plot at the Mountain View Cemetery immediately following.

Services entrusted to Heritage Memory Chapel.
