Carmen (Juanico) Holcomb

Posted 2011-11-21 by Pat Wilson
Carmen Holcomb, beloved wife of David Holcomb and devoted mother of twins Brittney and Christy Holcomb, residing in Chandler, AZ left this world peacefully on January 27, 2004. Carmen returned her soul to God after a brave and hard battle with cancer.

Carmen will be remembered by her family and friends as a devoted and loving mother, wife, friend and nurse who loved life and nature (most especially strolling along the beach in search of that perfect shell). Each year the Holcomb family vacation is in their favorite place, Captiva Island, FL, with their best friends Kathy, Les, Mandy and Austin Richards and Nana. Carmen passionately collected shells all her life from Hawaii, California and Florida. She will be remembered by those close to her for her continually growing shell collection and for the creations she made from these for people she loved.

Carmen was born April 19, 1955 in Roseville, California to Tom Juanico and Irene Beyer-Juanico.

She graduated from Nursing School in 1980 and was a compassionate and respected nurse. The Holcombs moved to Chandler four years ago from Florida and immediately started exploring the west and all it had to offer starting with showing Brittney and Christy snow for the first time. Carmen loved to travel and enjoyed visiting new places and meeting new people. Carmen will be best remembered for her love and devotion to family and friends, her compassion and sense of humor.

Carmen's warmth and smile permeated the very souls of all who knew her and are survived by her. The Holcombs are fortunate to have a very close knit group of family and friends and this was never more evident as in the last year. Carmen is survived by myriad friends and countless neighbors whose love endured her and made her battle to survive sometimes even joyous with their endless gifts of food, transportation and overnight stays with the twins during the harder times.

Her family and friends gathered to support Carmen, Dave, Brittney and Christy so that they did not have to go through this alone. Carmen is also survived by her dutiful father, Thomas Juanico, her wonderful step-mom, May (the fish) Juanico, her mother, Irene Beyer-Juanico, her loving and devoted brother and sister-in-law Mark Juanico and Denise Juanico, her beautiful niece Kimmie Juanico, and her adoring nephews Joey Juanico and Brian Juanico. Carmen's humorous brother Mark, brother-in-law Stephen Holcomb, his wife Amanda Holcomb, and Carmen's best fiends, Kathy and Les Richards and their children can be counted on to spread humor and love through times ahead.

Carmen and Dave are continually thankful for the outpouring of support from local friends, their many friends throughout the Country and neighbors like Vicky and Frank Narducci, Jessica Oberbillig, Kaitlin Keirsted and their families, together with her co-workers at Tempe St. Luke Hospital.

A memorial in Carmen's honor and in celebration of her life was held at Bueler Chandler Mortuary, 14 West Hulet Drive, Chandler, AZ, Saturday, January 31, 2004. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made, in Carmen Holcomb's name, to benefit Cancer Research at the Mayo Clinics and Hospitals in Scottsdale, AZ.
