Anita (Larkin) Schilling Born in Brooklyn, New York on Jan. 21, 1916 Departed on Jan. 7, 2007 and resided in Clarkdale, AZ. Anita Schilling, 90, resident of Clarkdale, Arizona, passed away on Sunday, January 7, 2007 in the Village of Oak Creek, Sedona, Arizona. She was born January 22, 1916 in Brooklyn, New York to John K. and Rose Larkin. As a child, Anita attended the St. Cecilia’s Catholic School, and graduated from St. Joseph's High School in Brooklyn. Anita worked for Gyrodyne, an aerospace company in St. James, Long Island, as a purchasing clerk. She was very active within the community, volunteering at the Verde Valley Medical Center, and the Meals on Wheels program, the Grandmother’s Club, the Gem & Mineral Club, the Secret Pal Club at the Verde Valley Manor, which she founded. Anita was also a former member of the Columbiettes in New York, and a member of the Verde Valley Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary in Cottonwood. When Anita wasn’t busy with all of her community activities she enjoyed reading and crocheting. She is preceded in death by her husband, Walter P. Schilling, Sr.; and her brothers, Raymond Larkin and John K. Larkin, Jr. She leaves behind her two sons, Walter P. Schilling, Jr., companion, Barbara of N. J., and Robert P. Schilling, Catherine of N.Y.; her daughter, Doris S. Gardner, husband, Peter W. of Ariz.; three grandchildren, Tammy Hasselo, Robert Hasselo and Christen Schilling; 2 step-grandchildren; 2 step great-grandchildren; and her sister-in-law, Bertha Larkin of N.Y. A Memorial Service will be held in Anita’s honor at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Cottonwood, on Saturday, January 13, 2007 at 11:00 a.m., were Anita was a member. Then on Wednesday, January 17, 2006 a second Memorial Service will be held at the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Ronkonkoma, New York at 11:00 a.m. Following the Memorial Service in New York, Anita will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband, Walter, at the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Coram, New York.
