Mary Ellen Robyn (Nash) Waterman

Mary Ellen Robyn (Nash) Waterman,died May 25, 2003, at Verde Valley Medical Center, Cottonwood, Arizona, after a brief illness; born Oct. 3, 1911, in Glenmora, Louisiana, she was the daughter of the late William Crumbly and Leontine (nee Kelone) Nash.

Upon graduation from Bolton High School in Alexandria, Louisiana, Mary Ellen attended Tulane University to study nursing. At Tulane, she participated in the nursing program's pioneering film on baby and child care.

While in New Orleans in 1939, she met and married Clarence K. Robyn from St. Louis, Missouri and were married over 50 years, they lived in New Orleans, St. Louis, and Humboldt, Tennessee.

In 1977, they chose to retire in Clarkdale, Arizona.

Surviving are her three children: daughter Susan J. Robyn of Prescott, Ariz.; son Colonel Eric W. Robyn (Sally), U.S. Army (retired) of Savannah, Ga.; and son Dr. Richard C. Robyn (Sylviane) of Twinsburg, Ohio; five grandsons: David Weiss of Mariposa, Calif.; William Weiss (Tanya) of Boise, Idaho; Benjamin Bochenek of Prescott, Ariz.; Major Paul Robyn (Dawn), US Army, West Point, N.Y.; and James Robyn (Nicole) of Grand Rapids, Mich.; and six great-grandchildren; Maranda and Makenzi Weiss, Meredith, Emily, Gavin, and Karin Robyn. Her brother-in-law, Noel L. Robyn, still resides in Clarkdale, Ariz.

A memorial service/reception for family and friends will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 31, at Cottonwood Village in Cottonwood, Arizona.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that charitable contributions be made to the Salvation Army, Disabled Veterans of America, or the library of your choice in memory of Mary Ellen Robyn Waterman.
