Loyd L. Brewer, 83, of Cottonwood, Ariz., passed away on June 28, 2006 in Cottonwood. Loyd was born June 18, 1923 in Hohenwald, Tenn., the youngest of 6 children of Lewis and Florence Brewer.

He grew up in Dyersburg, Tenn. After attending high school he went to Chicago and worked for the Chicago N.W. Railroad.

He served in the Marine Corps during WWII in the South Pacific for 28 months.

In Sept. 1946 he married Helen Wills and they moved to Phoenix in 1948.

He worked for Goodyear Aerospace for 34 1/2 years in plastics and retired to Camp Verde, Ariz. in 1986 and in 2000 moved to Cottonwood.

He was an outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, and gardening. Loyd is survived by his wife of 59 1/2 years Helen, daughters Carolyn Garner, Camille (Jim) Worcester and Cheryl (Rus) Brock, grandchildren Carrie, Amy, Melissa, Meredith, Meagan, and Cody; 6 great grandsons, 1 great-great grandson and one sister Lela Brewer of Dyersburg, Tenn.

Visitation will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 5, 2006 at Greenwood Memory Lawn Chapel, 719 N. 27th Ave. Phoenix, Ariz. with funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m.

Arrangements entrusted to Greenwood Memory Lawn Mortuary.
