RAGGIO, Mark William
Mark William Raggio passed away on February 19, 2004, in Morristown, New Jersey, of a heart attack. He was born in Reno, Nevada on October 12, 1962, and was 41 years of age. His parents were William and Dorothy (Brigman) Raggio. His mother preceded him in death.

Attending local schools, Mark graduated from Reno High School and, in 1985, the University of Nevada at Reno, with a degree in Business Administration. Maintaining his career with the Reno Gazette Journal throughout college, Mark rose to circulation manager and eventually helped launch the USA Today newspaper nationally. Mark's selection for the accelerated management program brought him to Nevada Bell in Reno in 1987 and later he joined management at Pacific Bell in San Francisco and US West in Phoenix, AZ. Since 2001, he had been affiliated with the AT&T Consumer Division as an executive director of DSL products. At the time of his death, Mark was on assignment in New Jersey.

Mark is survived by his longtime companion, Shannon Smith, of San Francisco; his father, Senator Bill Raggio and stepmother Dale, of Reno; sisters, Tracy Woodring and Leslie Righetti, both of Reno; and nieces and nephews Jennifer, Michael, Meaghan, Jolly, Sommer and Anthony. Private wake for friends and family was held at Mark's home in San Francisco. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to First National Bank of Nevada, Attn: Mark William Raggio Scholarship Memorial Fund, School of Business, University of Nevada, Reno.
