GAVETTE, LeRoy M.
LeRoy M. Gavette, 86, was born in Phoenix, on March 16, 1917, and peacefully died at home on June 3, 2003 surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Gladys; sister, Evelyn Amen; four children, Ron (Judy) Gavette, Richard (Elaine) Gavette, Carolyn (Buck) Homes, and Rusty (Debi) Gavette; 13 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and several other loving nieces & nephews.

After graduating from UofA in 1941 with a degree in Agriculture, LeRoy worked as Pinal County Agricultural Agent. Later he managed a dairy farm, worked for United Dairymen as well as Arizona Milk, and then retired as the State Administrative Officer for USDA-Farmers' Home Administration. Blessed with a large, loving family, LeRoy demonstrated God's love to everyone who knew him through his service to others. As a founding member of the Glendale Evening Lion's Club, he recently celebrated 60 years of service during which time he served as District Governor 21-A, sponsored several new clubs throughout Arizona, and spent countless hours with his wife and family working at fund raisers to provide services to the less fortunate.

Friends and family celebrated his life during a service at Madison Baptist Church, 12th Street & Rose Lane, Phx. Visitation was at Hansen Mortuary, 8314 N. 7th St. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to be made to Lions Projects at Lions Foundation of AZ, Attn George Hill, 1016 N. 32nd St., Ste. 5, Phx. 85008 or Trinity Hospice, 5314 N. 12th St., Phx. 85014.
