Chris Dwane Kretzmann

05/25/65 - 12/15/08

Chris Kretzmann, age 43, a fifth-generation native of Prescott, left these earthly bounds and passed in the stillness of the morning into his heavenly Father's waiting arms on Dec. 15, 2008, in Prescott, Ariz.

He was a member of the Operating Engineers Local 428 and operated heavy equipment in the state of Arizona and the last 10 years in the tri-city area. He also transported and drove trucks. You always knew it was Chris driving up on your job, because his best friend, Molly, his red Queensland Heeler, was riding shotgun.

Chris loved the outdoors, camping and hunting. He shared many memories of his hunts with his brother in Unit 6A. He also enjoyed bowling and golf, but guns and target shooting were the ultimate. He was a member of the NRA and the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.

Chris, thanks for being a part of our lives. Your time spent here on Earth was way too short, but your lessons were learned. The depth of your soul, the love and laughter you brought to us, will be remembered in every sunrise and sunset until we meet again.

Chris was preceded in death by his brother and best friend Jimmy Kretzmann, his Queensland Heeler Peggy, his father Wally Kretzmann, and his grandparents Mickey Wilson, Frank Vallely and Walter and Bertha Kretzmann.

Chris is survived by his mother, Patty McQuality; stepdad Bill Casner; aunts Louise Vallely, Betty Kretzmann and Lorraine Douglas; uncle Jack Vierra; great-aunt Yvonne Morgan; great-uncle Arnold Kretzmann; cousins Robin, Kohl and Tessa Hill; Ren, Tasha, Trent and Coby Douglas; Betty, Lloyd, Gayland, Darcie and Babette Garber; Will, Danny, Ressa and Val Medd; Bill, Terry, Tim and Hugh Vallely and families; Carol McFadden, Sue Beyea and families; Will (Kayrn) and Johnny Casner and families; friends Dan, Wendi, Aaron, Christine Warmouth, Mark Miller, Jim Deheer, Jeff Donaldson, Jeff Mazur and families, along with numerous other relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be held on Jan 3, 2009, at Sunrise Funeral Home, 8167 E. Hwy 69, Prescott Valley, Ariz., 86314 at 1:30 p.m. Following the service a reception will be held at the McQuality/Casner home.

Memorial contributions suggested are the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and National Rifle Association.

Services are entrusted to the Hampton Funeral Home.
