Warren Carlson, 82, of Cottonwood, died Dec. 16. He was born Dec. 23, 1925, in Moline, Ill.

A World War II veteran, he served in the Navy. He worked for Hartford Insurance Company.

Warren and his late wife, Dorothy, were very active in the community during their 46 years of living in the Verde Valley. They were instrumental in forming the 4-H Club and other organizations in the Valley. Warren was past president of the Organic Garden Club, VASA and held office in the other civic organizations. He had a keen interest in people and local politics.

In his later years he enjoyed being part of the Veterans' Car Club and driving his 1964 Ford Falcon Ranchero in local parades.

He will be remembered as a good friend and willing listener.

He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy. He is survived by a son, Stanton Carlson (Gail); a daughter Nina Maxon (Michael) all of Renton, Washington.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 10, in the Cottonwood Baptist Church at 10:30 a.m.
