Margaret Lewis

Margaret Lewis was born April 4, 1919 and passed away Oct. 3, 2008.

Margaret moved to Wickenburg in 1970 with her husband Bill Lewis, who died Jan. 1, 1974, and son Billy Lewis who now resides at Rainbow Acres in Camp Verde, Ariz.

Margaret was an air traffic controller in World War II and Women’s Army Air Corps (WAC) as a sergeant. She was the founder of the Lake Charles, La., Retarded Children’s Association and brought special education into the local school systems there.

She was a dedicated wife, mother, volunteer, youth leader, and active in churches in various roles. Her last membership was at Calvary Baptist Church in Wickenburg.

In her declining years, she was content and at peace in her residence at The Court in Sun City West. Her past residence was at Palm Drive Court and My Father’s Retirement Ranch.

She is survived by her sons Billy Lewis of Camp Verde, Ariz.; Dr. Ron Lewis (Barbara) of Augusta, Ga.; and Robert Lewis (Helen) of Sykesville, Md.; and her daughter Katie (Woody) Neal of Columbia, Mo. Her grandchildren are Kim, Randy, Michael, Stephanie, and Caleb.

Services were held on Monday, Oct. 6 at Wickenburg Cemetery.
