Roy Stan Gardner, 65, lost his battle to cancer on Dec. 10. He was born on Jan. 30, 1943 to Carol and Bill Gardner in El Paso, Texas.
He was raised in and around Deming, N.M., and Blythe, Calif., before moving to Wickenburg, Ariz., in 1959.
He graduated from Wickenburg High School in 1961 and joined the U.S. Army. In 1966, Roy married his soul mate Debbie Hayes and they had 42 wonderful years together.
Roy worked as a truck driver for 40 years, working for Hogue Farms, Muldner Trucking, AJ Bayless, and Roadway. He retired in 2005 to be with the love of his life and travel.
He is survived by his son Shawn and wife Cindy, son Shane and wife Tonya, grandchildren Jonathan, Taylor, Austin, and Cheyenne, sisters K’Lyn, B’Ann, Sharon, Cindy, and brothers Billy Dee and Tyson, and many nieces and nephews.
Roy has donated his body to the Brain Foundation to someday help find a cure for cancer. There will be a Celebration of Life on Jan. 24 at 4 p.m. at the Bar 7 Restaurant in the back patio, downtown Wickenburg.
