The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona Sunday, July 27, 2003 Carl Reed Hess, 73, died July 4, 2003. He will be dearly missed by friends and family for the loving and dedicated example he set as a passionate life-long learner. Born April 18, 1930, in Salt Lake City, he served in the Air Force during the Korean conflict, graduated from University of San Francisco in accounting, and became a CPA. Carl raised a family in Phoenix, where he became CFO for Farm and Home Life Insurance. He later became CFO for Nevada State Industrial Insurance System until his retirement in 2000. Carl is survived by his wife Carol, daughters Laura Fullum of Midland Park, NJ, Alicia Weiss, of Scottsdale, AZ, Verlyn McGilvray of Incline Village, NV, Shannon Kilby of Redding, CA, son David Watts of Windsor, CA, eight grandchildren, and one great grandchild. A life celebration will be held at 2 pm Saturday, August 2, at the Brewery Arts Center in Carson City, NV. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Carl's name to the American Heart Assn or American Diabetes Assn. See Also: Find-A-Grave |
