Dora Elizabeth Dippold Travis died March 5, 2007. She was born June 2, 1925, in Litchfield, Ill. She was 81.

Dora was raised in Gillespie, Ill., and attended Blackburn University in Carlinville, Ill., and then the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. She graduated from Arizona State University in 1972 with a degree in Elementary Education. In 1949, she married Paul Travis, who preceded her in death.

Her love was teaching kindergarten, first in Hillsboro, Ill., then later teaching Sunday School at her beloved One in Christ Church.

Dora was an active and enthusiastic member of the Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority even after her college years. She was recognized and honored for Outstanding Service in 2005 by the ZTA National Fraternity.

On Thursday evenings Dora enjoyed talking with the Golden Girls of the Verde Valley Amateur Radio Association.

Dora is survived by her children, Jennifer Travis, Susan Weitzman and Charles Travis, her brother, Edward Dippold, her sister, Marjorie Mitchell, nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A viewing will be at 1 p.m. and a service at 2 p.m., Saturday March 10, at the One in Christ Church, 2080 S. 260, Cottonwood.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorials be sent to the One In Christ Church.
