July 7, 1938 - Dec. 20, 2008

Bob was born in Beloit, Wis., and in 1943 the family moved to California. His school years through high school were spent in Long Beach, Calif., where he became very sports-minded at an early age. He attended Santa Ana Junior College with more involvement in sports, where he helped institute the Flag Football for the younger players at the city parks.

After Angel Stadium opened he assisted Dick Enberg with the stats and that was while Gene Autry was the owner.

He was an enthusiastic fan of both Angels and Dodgers, with opportunities to meet some players, including pitcher Don Drysdale. However, his favorite, the Green Bay Packers, was his choice of football teams.

He also enjoyed various types of music and Western movies, of which he favored Gene Autry, Roy Rogers, Lone Ranger and Tonto and, in later years, John Wayne.

His devotion to and fascination with the Town of Prescott Valley from government to sports and entertainment were great challenges for him.

He spent many hours organizing the book drive (with the help of many citizens, students and town staff) to transport to the library in Pascagoula, Miss., after Hurricane Katrina.

He was also a retired member of the California National Guard.

He is survived by his wife Norma of 38 years; mother Betty (Allen) Kimball; brothers Dennis of Prescott Valley and Gary (Janet) of Dewey; three nephews; one niece; daughter Lori (Dan) Whalen of California; son Steven (Colleen) Edwards of Missouri; five grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; step-children Sheryl Pruitt of Prescott Valley, Jeanie (John) Bantun, Randy (Rhonda) Schweitzer, Stephenie Warsh, Richard Schweitzer of California and Mark Schweitzer of Texas; 13 step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many more extended family members.

Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 30, at Sunrise Funeral Home, with Pastor Ken VanTuyl officiating. In memory of Bob's life, shortened by cancer, in lieu of flowers, contributions may be donated to the Cancer Fund or the Hospice in Prescott Valley in the Dell Webb Building, 3262 N. Windsong Dr., Prescott Valley, Ariz., 86314.

Sunrise Funeral Home was entrusted with the arrangements.
