Ronald Jenkin, 84, of Glendale, died Sunday, January 27, 2002. He was born May 13, 1917 in St. Austell, Cornwall, England and moved to Ray, Arizona with his family in 1922.

He attended Ray Public School from kindergarten through high school. He completed his BA degree in 1939 and MA in education in 1941.

In 1943 Ronald was called for active duty as an Army Air Corps Communication Officer. He served in the South Pacific until 1946. After leaving active duty he served as a reserve officer in the United States Air Force until retiring in 1977 as a Lt. Col.

He returned to teaching in Clarkdale, AZ and later served as superintendent in Peoria, Benson and Douglas, Arizona. As life changed, he and Jean moved back to the Phoenix area.

Survivors include his wife, Jean son and daughter-in-law, James (Art) and Kristie Jenkin and two granddaughters, Jennifer Ann and Koryn Alissa Jenkin all of Glendale, Ariz.

A memorial service will be held 10:00 am. Saturday, February 2, 2002, at Messinger Indian School Mortuary, 7601 E. Indian School Road, Scottsdale.

His family requests that donations be made to the College of Education at Arizona State University-West, 4701 W. Thunderbird Drive, Glendale, Ariz., 85306.
