Peart, Leslie Thomas (May 31, 1922 - December 26, 2008) Passed on to greater glory at his home in Lake San Marcos, surrounded by his wife, Emma Peart and his loving family. "Tom" was born in Hayden, Arizona to parents Leslie Archibald Peart and Flavia Coats. Flavia passed away shortly after his birth from complications. Although his father soon remarried, Tom remained an only child. From his beloved University of Southern California, Tom earned an engineering degree and later went to night school to earn a Masters degree from UCLA. On July 25, 1943 Tom married Adelaide Edith Stenberg in Pasadena, CA. He served in the US Army Corps of Engineers during World War II and was stationed in Hawaii and Colorado Springs. After the war, Tom remained active in the Army reserve and eventually retired with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Tom worked for many years as an engineer for Beckman Instruments, Helipot division in Fullerton, California. He subsequently worked for Bourns Corporation then was selected as Plant Manager for the Mepco/Electra plant in Sorrento Valley in San Diego. Tom and Addie retired in 1979 and split their time between residence in Mesa, Arizona and Lake San Marcos, California. Addie passed away on April 1, 2003. On March 3, 2007, Tom remarried, in storybook fashion, to his childhood friend, Emma Reay. Tom and Emma also split their time living in Surprise, Arizona and Lake San Marcos. Tom leaves his wife Emma and his two sons and daughters-in-law, Douglas and Nancy Peart of Poway, California and David and Christine Peart of Centennial, Colorado. Tom also leaves five grandsons: Christopher, Michael, Danny, Carson and Ethan Peart and three great-grandsons: Jack, Sean and William Peart. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2009 at Meadowlark Community Church, 1918 Redwing St. in San Marcos at 2 pm. Tom was the most charitable person. In lieu of flowers and in the spirit of his generosity, the family prefers a donation to a charity meaningful to you. - |
