Godfrey Van Deren

Charles E. Van Deren received a telegram Tuesday conveying the sad intelligen ce of the death of his father, Godfrey Van Deren. He died at his home in the Verde Valley Tuesday morning December 27, 1898, and was in his seventieth year. He had been in declining health for the past two years.

He was born in Kentucky, and moved to Missouri when he was quite young and live there for several years. He came to Arizona in 1878 and located in the Verde Valley and lived on his present farm until his death.

He leaves seven sons, two daughters and a large circle of friends to mourn his death. All of his children live in Yavapai and Coconino counties except one son who lives in Oregon.

He was a good neighbor, a kind parent, highly respected and loved by all who knew him.

The funeral service took place in the Verde Valley.
