William P. Diggs

William P. Diggs 90, of Sun City, passed away July 3, 2002. He was born July 15, 1911 in St. Louis, Missouri. A Graduate of Washington & Lee University 1935 and MBA from Harvard Business School (1937). He worked in Public Utility Business in New York City and Savannah, GA 1937-40. He was secretary of the Board of Police Commissioners in St. Louis, MO 1940-41. 1941-1946 U.S. Navy, served in western Pacific and earned two battle stars while serving on the Aircraft Carrier Bennington with the 7th Fleet. Discharged with rank of Lt. Commander.

He married Eunice Kristofa Nelson, Ensign in the Navy Nurses, who served in the US Nurse Corp in May 1944 at Honolulu, Hawaii. She preceded him in death in 1970. He married Helen Marie BURTON in 1978, who died in 1991. He served as a special agent in the FBI from 1947 to 1976, being assigned to Detroit, Chicago, Rockford, Illinois and Newark, New Jersey. He is survived by his children Mary Diggs,
William Diggs, Eileen Diggs Dunn and Edward Diggs and 11 grandchildren.

Mr. Diggs was a member of Lakeview United Methodist Church, Sundowner's Lions Club, Oakmont Men's Club, and Palmbrook Country Club. Visitation will be 4-7 P.M. Friday, Menke Funeral Home, 12420 N. 103rd Ave. Funeral service was at Lakeview United Methodist Church, 10298 Thunderbird Blvd., Sun City, AZ. Published in The Arizona Republic July 5, 2002.
