Maria Julianna Hauk, age 83, passed away Jan. 2, 2009. She was born Feb. 12, 1925, in Mentmore, N.M., to Nikolas and Mary (Srok) Jackovich.

Julie worked for Pacific Bell for 44 years and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. She graduated from Clown College in 1982, which shows her sense of humor. She was a very fun person to be around.

Julianna married George Hauk in 1983 in Chula Vista, Calif. They were deeply involved in the San Diego community and volunteered in the American Lutheran Church family at large. If there were three words to describe Julianna Hauk they would be faith, hope and charity. If anyone close to her needed anything, she would be there. Julie was also an associate member of the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association.

Julianna and George came to Prescott in 1997. Even though friends were far away she kept in touch with people. Julianna loved animals and hated when she heard stories of them being mistreated. She enjoyed traveling with her family and especially liked to visit Las Vegas.

Julianna is survived by 10 family members scattered across the country.

A committal service will be 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 12, 2009, at Greenwood Memorial Park, 4300 Imperial Ave., San Diego, Calif. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice Family Care, 1550 S. Alma School Road, Suite 102, Mesa, Ariz., 85210.

Heritage Memory Mortuary assisted the family with final arrangements.
