| The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Wednesday, January 07, 2009 Alan Robert Anderson, 75, beloved husband and father, died unexpectedly at Santa Fe House in Prescott Valley, Sunday morning, Jan. 4, 2009. Devoted to his family and loving wife of 38 years, Pamela, Al was a kind and gentle man. Al was born in Brandon, Minn., into a Swedish and Norwegian immigrant family. Al, the youngest child and only son, grew up in Osakis, Minn., and graduated from Osakis High School. He was drafted into the Army in 1953 and stationed at Ft. Lewis, Wash., for three years. After the Army, Al moved to Minneapolis, Minn., and graduated from the University of Minnesota. A gifted business manager, Al started work at Honeywell, Minneapolis, in 1961 and retired from Honeywell after 37 years in 1998 as the manager of Industry Technical Standards. Al married Pamela Joy Alford in 1970 and they had two children, Stephanie and Steven. He enjoyed skiing, camping, biking and walking, fueled each morning by a lifelong passion for black coffee and Danish. The family avidly camped and traveled throughout the United States and Canada. Al was a talented amateur photographer who enjoyed experiencing and photographing his international travels through his work, which included extensive travels in Europe, Africa and Asia. After moving to Prescott Valley in 2000, Al enjoyed the mild climate and traveling throughout the Southwest. At Victorian Estates, Al served on the board of directors and the architectural committee. He also volunteered for the forest service and was active for several years with the Elks. Al is survived by his wife Pamela; children Stephanie (Philip) Shepherd of Fort Worth, Texas, and Steven Wolfsong of LaPorte, Colo.; sister Norma Jones of San Diego, Calif.; brothers-in-law, cousins, nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, Andrew Gust Anderson, and mother Agnes Gertrude Foslien, and sisters Adeline Gray and Ardis Anderson. Celebration of life service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, 2009, in the Chapel at Sunrise Funeral Home, 8167 E. Highway 69, Prescott Valley. A social gathering of remembrance will immediately follow at Victorian Estates Clubhouse.
