| Weeks 28 year-old Tempe Police Motorcycle Officer Kevin Louis Weeks, Badge #397, died in the line of duty Thursday, September 28th, 2006. Born March 7th, 1978 in Phoenix, Kevin attended Meyer Elementary, Anderson Junior High, and Chandler High School. Kevin continued his education at Mesa Community College before transferring to Arizona State University where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Justice Studies. In 1999 Kevin joined the Tempe Police Department, quickly establishing himself as a dedicated and skillful officer. He served in the patrol division for 2 years before transferring to the traffic bureau. It was here that Kevin found his calling. During his 7-year career he received numerous awards & commendations for his hard work and devotion to the community he so proudly served. In 2005 he was named 'Officer of the Year' by Mothers Against Drunk Drivers. Kevin had committed his life to serving others and took great personal pride in wearing his Tempe Police Uniform. He had a passion for his job and for his coworkers, especially his late-night DUI squad whose mission is to make the streets safe. He was a police instructor and also a member of the Tempe Police Department's Mounted Reserve Unit. Kevin was a loving son, a caring brother, and devoted friend. He will always be held in the most noble regard and highest esteem. Surviving are his parents; Alan & Paula Weeks, sister Caryn Davis, brother-in-law Daren Davis, grandfather Blaine "Gus" Clevenger, numerous extended family members, girlfriend Courtney Roberts, best friend Greg Bacon, faithful dog 'Diablo', and his "second family" - the men and women of the Tempe Police Department. A public viewing was held at Grace Community Church @ 1200 E. Southern in Tempe. The public funeral was also at Grace Community Church followed by a procession to The Valley of The Sun Cemetery in Chandler. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in Kevin's name to the 100 Club of Arizona or Mothers Against Drunk Drivers. Published in The Arizona Republic from 10/4/2006 - 10/5/2006.
