Joyce (Baumann) Carmagnini

Posted 2012-03-15 by Pat Wilson
Joyce Baumann Carmagnini, born September 1, 1943, in Globe, Arizona, passed away November 8, 2005, near her home in Italy.

A graduate of Arizona State University, she taught for several years in the Roosevelt Elementary School District before setting out with friends to travel the world. While in Italy, she met Giancarlo Carmagnini, another teacher, who put an end to her travels with a proposal of marriage. Wedded August 23, 1969, the two made their life together on the Italian Riviera. With two boys, a translation and tutoring business, many friends and much travel, Joyce found both adventure and a family's love in two languages, far from her birthplace in Arizona.

Survivors include her husband Giancarlo and her sons, Pablo and Tito of Diano Castello, Italy, a sister, Vicki Cabanyog, a brother, David Baumann, both of Phoenix, and many loving nieces and nephews.

A memorial gathering for family and friends was held at the D C Ranch Community Center, 9260 E. Desert Camp Drive, Scottsdale, 85255. All are encouraged to write letters to Joyce, as a chance to say to her the things left unsaid in her lifetime. They won't be read, but, in what is becoming a family tradition, will be burned and sent to her spirit. Those who cannot attend may send these letters of remembrance to Joyce Carmagnini c/o P.O. Box 27281, Phoenix, Az. 85061-7281.
