Lavonne Mae (Baade) Clendening

Lavonne Mae Clendening, age 78, died March 13, 2004, in Prescott, Ariz. She was born Nov. 21, 1925, in Essex, Ill., to Henry and Margaret (Rogers) Baade

Lavonne worked as a cook and houswife. She enjoyed the farm life during her younger days. Lavonne loved to quilt, enjoyed watching John Wayne movies, and had many items of his memorabilia.

Lavonne and her husband, Henry E. Clendening, shared 52 years together, before his death in 1995.

Lavonne is survived by her daughters, Judy Deschand, of Venice, Fla., Sophia Clendening, of San Diego, Calif., and Helen Peters of Prescott Valley; her sons, Robert Clendening of Mayer and Frank Clendening of Dover, Delaware; her sisters, Leona Kirchner of Illinois and Lorraine Downey of Texas; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

A visitation for Lavonne will be held today, Wednesday, March 17, from 5 to 7 p.m., at Sunrise Funeral Home in Prescott Valley.

A Celebration of Her Life will be held Thursday, March 18, at 10 a.m., also at Sunrise Funeral Home. Burial will follow the services at 1:30 p.m. at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, in Phoenix, with Pastor Gary Simons officiating.

Sunrise Funeral Home and Crematory assisted the family with the arrangements.
