Joyce M. (Marohn) Strothmann

Joyce passed away on August 23, 2006 in Tucson, Arizona. She was born in Waseca, Minnesota on January 5, 1928 to John Marohn and Bessie Boerner Marohn.

After graduating from Principia College in Elsah, Illinois she taught high school English in Grand Rapids, Minnesota. Later, in Arcata, California, she became a private piano teacher.

She was an active member of the American Association of University Women and served as State President for Arizona for two years (1999-2001). She also served as Branch President for the Casas Adobes Branch in Tucson. She was an avid golfer and belonged to the Roadrunners League at the Arthur Pack Golf Course where she was President for two years. She was also active in the Newcomers Club and Welcome Wagon Club.

She is survived by her husband, Rudy; her brother-in-law, Curt Strothmann and his wife, Gwen of Rockford, Illinois and by her cousin, Dan Reitan (wife, Marion) of Fargo, North Dakota. Surviving nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews include Tom, Claudia, Eric and Chris Strothmann of Tucson, Arizona; Sam and Gail Markham of Tucson; Stacy and Charles Masten of Humboldt, Arizona; Sean Davidson of Humboldt; Emily Markham of Phoenix; Pat and Ed Crylen of Naperville, Illinois; Nancy Strothmann and Robert Reafler of Rockford, Illinois and Jim and Val Strothmann of Falls Church, Virginia.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 8 at 200 p.m. at the ADAIR AVALON CHAPEL, 8090 N. Northern Ave., Tucson. Donations may be made to Third Church Christ, Scientist, 7355 N. Paseo del Norte, Tucson, Ariz. or the Principia College, Elsah, Illinois.
