John Woodrow (Woody) Kring

John W. (Woody) Kring, age 84, of Humboldt, Ariz., passed away March 23, 2002 in Phoenix, Ariz. Mr. Kring was born January 6, 1918 in Sandia, Texas to James David Kring and Ada (Sparks) Kring.

John moved to Arizona in 1924 and graduated from Buckeye High School in 1935. He married Lucile, his wife of 62 years, September 18, 1939. Mr. Kring attended Arizona State College (NAU) in Flagstaff. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Mr. Kring moved to Humboldt in 1979.

John was a member of the Elks of Payson, the Bass Fishing Club of Prescott and a 50 year member of the Operating Engineers Local 428. He enjoyed woodworking, hunting and fishing.

Woody is survived by his wife of 62 years, Lucile his children: Charlie and Alice Kring of Prescott, Ariz., Joe and Fran Kring of Mesa, Ariz., Tom and Gloria Kring of Phoenix, Ariz. and Carolyn and Leon McKendree of Prescott Valley, Ariz., a sister Ruth Blakely of Payson, Ariz., 15 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son Harold Kring.

Visitation will be Thursday, March 28, from noon - 2:00 p.m., followed by a Gathering of Friends. Service at 2:00 p.m. at the Hampton Funeral Home, 240 South Cortez St., Prescott.

Interment will follow at Redwood Memorial Gardens in Dewey, Ariz.

The family requests Memorial Contributions in remembrance of John to: Habitat for Humanity or The Sun Shine Acres School for Children in Mesa, Ariz.

The Hampton Funeral Home assisted the family with the arrangements.
