Cheryl (Bartel) Thieme

Cheryl Thieme returned home to the Lord on Jan. 18, 2009. She was born in 1944 to Roger U. and Frances R. Bartel in New York.

She got her registered nursing degree at Arizona Western College in Yuma, Ariz., in 1969 and dedicated her life to helping sick children beginning in 1975 in San Diego, Calif., at the University Hospital Pediatric ICU, and over the years evolved into a highly respected and successful counselor for troubled teenage girls. She was especially devoted to the girls at Mingus Mountain Estate and changed countless lives in the 16 years she spent there. She had just begun to change the lives of families with AmeriPsych Inc. She was greatly loved and will be greatly missed by every life she touched.

Her sister, Lori Russo, her two daughters, Deborah and Theresa, three grandchildren, Jennifer, Cheyenne and Jacob, and four great-grandchildren survive her. Her extended family and many close friends also survive her.

A memorial service will be 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2009, at the Sunrise Funeral Home Chapel, 8167 E. Highway 69, Prescott Valley, Ariz.
