Born in Carson, North Dakota on Sep. 28, 1922
Departed on Dec. 5, 2008 and resided in Cottonwood, Ariz.

Nyla Harding Murie, 86, of Cottonwood , died December 5. She was born September 28, 1922 in Carson , North Dakota , the daughter of Merritt and Selma Harding.

Nyla attended the University of North Dakota and was a member of the Chi Omega sorority. She met her husband, William Mervin Murie, in 1944 and was happily married for 55 years. They were blessed with the birth of two sons, William and Richard.

She worked for many years with the Arizona Child Welfare Service. Because of her husband's career in the banking industry, Nyla lived in several Arizona communities including Yuma , Prescott , Flagstaff , and Cottonwood . She shared her husband's love of golf and played an active role in support of his many fraternal affiliations.

Nyla was preceded in death by her husband, William Mervin Murie, and a son, William Harding Murie. She is survived by her son Richard "Dick" Murie of Cottonwood ; granddaughters Krista McCaleb and Eryne McGary of Austin , Texas ; grandsons Richard Murie of St. Louis , Chris Murie of Tucson and Kevin Murie of Cottonwood ; and three great-grandchildren.

Private services will be held by the family when Nyla is interred with her husband and son in Flagstaff 's Citizen Cemetery .

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made in Nyla's memory to Northern Arizona Hospice, 269 S. Candy Lane , Cottonwood , Ariz., 86326.
