John Gilding passed at his home in Clarkdale, Arizona with his son Ken (Mike) at his side. John spent over 30 years as an employee of Oldsmobile. He retired and moved to Northern Michigan.

After one snowstorm too many, he moved to Arizona to be close to his brothers Ken and Don. Up until his illness he worked as a caretaker for Lampliter Village, where he lived until his passing.

Some of the fondest memories family has of J.B. involve gatherings at the home he shared with his wife Dot. J.B. was the appointed cook for all who attended. His grandchildren still remember the peanut butter balls he would send at Christmas time.

J.B. was preceded in death by his wife Dot, his brothers Vern and Kenneth, his sisters Lenore, Geraldine and Roberta. He is survived by his children Pam Low and her husband Tom of Georgetown, Texas, Jerrold Gilding and his wife Marilyn of Charlotte, Mich., Ken (Mike) Gilding and his wife Kathy of Crestline, Ohio, and his daughter Vickie Bockenkamp and her husband Hans of Alameda, Calif. He is also survived by his sister Kate Crawford of Leslie, Mich., and his brother Don Gilding and his wife Lela of Clarkdale, AZ. J.B. leaves nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

A celebration of John's life will be held Saturday January 24, 2009 from 2-4 at Lampliter Village Clubhouse. Family and friends are encouraged to stop by and share their memories of J.B. with his children.

The family wishes to express their thanks to Northern Arizona Hospice for their kindness and support. We would also like to especially thank the staff and residents of Lampliter Village for their love and support. We could not have managed without their help. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in John's name to the North Arizona Hospice, 269 S. Candy Lane, Cottonwood, AZ 86326 or the Old Town Mission.

An online guestbook is availabale at www.westcottfuneralhome.com.
