Joseph T. Luna, 61, of Tolleson, Ariz., born March 7, 1945, in Gilbert, Ariz., died Thursday, March 23, 2006, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Phoenix.

Visitation will take place from 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday, March 30, at Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home, corner of Cortez and Carleton streets in Prescott, Ariz.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Mass will take place at 11 a.m. Friday, March 31, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Prescott.

Joseph T. Luna, age 61, of Prescott, died unexpectedly on March 23, 2006, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Phoenix. Joseph was born March 7, 1945, in the town of Gilbert, Ariz., to Camillo and Maria (Romero) Luna. Due to the death of this mother at birth, Joseph was raised by Rachel and Louis Verdugo in Prescott.

In 1964 Joseph joined the United States Army, where he was active until 1967. He served several more years in the Arizona National Guard, attaining the rank of Sergeant First Class. Joseph received many letters of commendation for his hard and tireless work in the service. During his active service, Joseph was also proud to be chosen to serve as a member of the color guard.

During Ae early '70s, Joseph started working for Idaho, Power company in Payette, Idaho and went through Electrical Lineman training. He moved back to Arizona in 1975 and went to work for the Arizona Public Service in Winslow, Ariz. In 1985, Joseph began working for the United States Department of Energy.
