William Edgar Melvin, age 67, of Prescott, Ariz., passed away Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2005, at his home in Prescott. William was born Aug. 22, 1938, to Richard John and Sybil Marie (Lafleur) Melvin, in Chicago, Ill.

William was raised in Ann Arbor, Mich., and he graduated from Ann Arbor Pioneer High School in 1956. He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1957-1960.

William married Dolores Baur on Sept. 1, 1962, in Ypsilanti, Mich.

William was a stockbroker with E.F. Hutton & Co. from 1965-1978. In May 1978, William and Dolores moved to Prescott. William worked in real estate in Prescott both in sales and management until his retirement in 2002. He served as president of the Prescott Area Association of Realtors in 1989 and also was Realtor of the Year in 1989. William was also coowner and managing broker of Help-U-Sell of Prescott.

William is survived by his beloved wife, Dolores, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Virginia Melvin Dannelly.

Memorial services will be held on Thursday, Dec. 29, at 3 p.m., at the American Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1085 Scott Drive, Prescott. Pastor Wally Cole will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations made in Williams's memory to the American Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1085 Scott Drive, Prescott, Ariz., 86301 or to the Salvation Army, 237 South Montezuma, Prescott, Ariz., 86303.

The Hampton Funeral Home assisted the family with the arrangements.
