Bennie Perkins Martin Born in Wills Point, Texas on Mar. 24, 1924 Departed on Feb. 9, 2008 and resided in Clarkdale, Ariz. Bennie Perkins Martin, 83, resident of Clarkdale, passed away on Saturday, February 9, 2008 at his home. He was born March 24, 1924 to James C. and Beatrice (Dixon) Martin in Wills Point, Texas. Bennie proudly served his country in the United States Army. Bennie moved to the Verde Valley in 1956; where he made his home and lived his life as a Cowboy! He was also co-owner of Ben and Steve's Backhoe Service from 1976 to 1987. When Bennie wasn't cowboyin' or back hoein' then he was out fishin'! He is preceded in death by his wife, Wilma J. (Shirley) Martin; who he married February 9, 1946 and lost in 2005. Bennie leaves behind his son, Steven L. Martin with his wife, Loralie of Duncan, Arizona; two daughters, Sherrill Jepsen with her husband, Peter of Chandler, Arizona, and Karla Schwartz with her husband, Kenneth of Cottonwood, Arizona; his brother, J.C. Martin with his wife, Esther of Safford, Arizona; as well as, seven grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren. A Memorial Service is planned for Saturday, March 8, 2008 at the First Southern Baptist Church in Clarkdale, services will begin at 10:00am.
