Arizona Silver Belt, Globe, Arizona Wednesday, June 06, 2012 Miami — Rebeca Mendoza Martinez, age 78, of Miami, Ariz., passed away Sunday, May 27, 2012. She was born in Villa Matamoros Chihuahua, Mexico, on May 16, 1934, the daughter of Theresa (Alarcon) and Abraham Mendoza, and the second to the youngest of 10 children. She moved to Arizona in 1955, where she met husband Joe Machuca Martinez in El Paso, Texas. They married on March 31, 1956, and together they raised six children. Rebeca was a member of First Southern Baptist Church in Miami. She liked gardening, planting herbs and other flowers. She also enjoyed cooking and embroidery, and she loved listening to Mexican music and her soap operas. She was always worried about her children and grandchildren. Rebeca will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Rebeca Mendoza Martinez leaves behind in loving memory three daughters, Elizabeth Cook (Ken) of Superior, Ariz., Yolanda Martinez of Miami, Ariz., and Annabell Martinez Heine of Globe, Ariz.; three sons, Joe Martinez, Jr. (Bobbie) of Oklahoma, Fred Martinez of Globe, Ariz. and Richard Martinez (Crista) of Missouri; three brothers, Abraham Mendoza (Graciela), Rueben Mendoza (Lenore), and Louis Mendoza (Alicia), all from California; and two sisters, Loyda Alvidrez of Los Angeles and Camerina Alvidrez, both of California; 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren also survive Rebeca Mendoza Martinez. Rebeca was preceded in death by her husband, Joe M. Martinez, on Feb. 1, 1993, and siblings Candaleria Mendoza, Belia Mendoza, Sara Garcia and Theresa Parra. Funeral services were held Friday, June 1, 2012, at 2 p.m. at Miles Miami Chapel, 309 W Live Oak St., in Miami, Ariz. Interment was at Pinal Cemetery in Central Heights, Ariz.
