William Hubert Rogers, III, 43, died at home November 26, 1995 of cardiopulmonary arrest and complications of metastatic brain cancer and its treatment, after a 3 year battle.

An ardent born-again Christian, Bill spoke fervently of his belief in the power of God to heal and inspired others with the impassioned witness of his convictions. A talented musician, he played lead and bass guitar in Praise bands in Arizona and Utah churches, inspiring youthful interest in the Word of God and raising the hackles of more conservative church members.

A professional pilot, accident investigator and flight administrator for Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Prescott, Arizona, Bill also taught a dynamite course in air crash survival and the critical role of attitude in survival. He had over 4,700 flight hours as Pilot-In-Command. Bill also served as a Prescott police officer and as a drug-busting pilot for Yolo Co. Sheriff's Office in California. Prior to his flight career, he worked as a staff researcher in Large Animal Reproduction at University of California School of Veterinary Medicine, pioneering the process of bovine embryo cryogenic storage and reimplantation.

An avid sportsman, Bill used the excuse of hunting to pursue his love of the outdoors, precision and tactical shooting and camping. He also loved running, cross-country ski-racing, bike-racing, skydiving and scuba. Most of all, he loved his wife and adored his two little girls. The loss of his valiant heart and unquenched spirit will be missed.

Survived by wife, Terri and daughters, Ariel and Alyssa, of Salt Lake; father, W.H. Rogers, of Michigan; and mother, Helen Ulstrom Rogers, of Minn.

The family wishes to thank oncologists Dr. Leslie McAllister (UH), Dr. Ted Braich (Mayo Clinic) and brilliant surgeons, Dr. Jeffrey McDonald, Dr. Greg Thompson (UH) and Dr. Fred Christiansen (Scottsdale Memorial) and the few good nurses among the indifferent many: Maria, Wendy, Sophie, Tootie, Steve, Brad, Rod, Anna and Carol Shepard, of University Hospital, stand out especially for their compassion and commitment under the most difficult circumstances. A special thank you to Dr. James Swenson of UUH Rehabilitation, home care nurses Vivian Wright and JoAnn Hyde and Aide Patricia Nelson.

Memorial services to be held December 8th, 7 p.m. at West Valley City Sonrise Baptist Church.

The family requests in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to a Bill Rogers memorial fund at the church or to a favorite charity.
