The world lost a kind man when John Drago passed away on Jan. 9, 2008. He was born in 1922 in New York City, and lived there until he enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1941.

He served throughout the war in the Pacific Theater. His education was completed with his Bachelor of Science from Arizona State University in 1952.

He was a staunch Sun Devils fan. While at ASU he met the love of his life, Dorothy McGehee of Wickenburg, and they married in 1951.

Dorothy and Johnny moved to Prescott in 1952 when Johnny accepted a position with the V.A. hospital. He worked in the laboratory and retired as a supervisor of the Clinical Laboratory in 1979.

His interests included bowling, camping, golfing, hunting and spending time with his family. He loved his 1967 Toyota Land Cruiser, even when the brakes wereshot. Tinkering on such things was an enjoyable pastime for him.

Johnny and Dorothy moved to Sun City, Ariz., in 2005. Friends and family will always remember his ability to "go with the flow," as well as his ever-ready smile, and his genuine affection at each meeting.

Johnny is survived by his wife of 56 years, Dorothy; his children, Tim (Mary), Julia Holt (Steve) and Jim (Shelly); four grandchildren, Chad (Sabrina) and David Drago, and Jill and Chris Holt. He is also survived by his niece Linda (Dan) McGlothlin.

A Funeral Mass will be 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 18, 2008, at Sacred Heart
Catholic Church in Prescott, Ariz.

Interment will be 1:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 21,2008, at the Prescott Veterans Administration Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Arizona, 2222 W. Northern Ave., Suite A-100, Phoenix, Ariz., 85021.
