William A. Meader

William A. Meader, age 83, of Prescott, Ariz., and formerly of Durango, Colo., and Lockport, Ill., died Sunday, Feb. 11, 2008.

Bill is survived by his wife of 60 loving years, Audrey (nee Carpenter) of Prescott, Ariz.; his daughters Diane Meader Schenk (Richard) of Lockport, Ill., and Carol Meader of Shorewood, Ill.; and his sister, Janet Nitke of Browns Valley, Minn.

He was known as a family man; wise, wonderful and with a great sense of humor.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents Arnold Meader and Elizabeth (nee) Horwath.

Bill served in the U.S. Navy as Pharmacist Mate Second Class aboard the DD595 USS Metcalf until the end of WWII. He was discharged in March of 1946.

He attended and graduated from the University of Illinois, Champaign, with a Masters of Science degree in Education in 1951. He was employed in several capacities with Olin Chemical Company in Joliet where he retired in 1987, then moved with his wife Audrey to Durango, Colo. They later relocated to Prescott Ariz.

There will be a private memorial service for Bill at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery located in Elwood, Ill., at a later date.

Memorials to Granite Mountain Home Care and Hospice of Prescott, Ariz. would be appreciated.
