Maydell Hirschy passed away in Prescott, Ariz., on Jan. 8, 2008. Born in Walhalla, S.C., on May 7, 1920, to Barkley and Ida Evans, she moved to Arizona with her family in 1922.

Maydell graduated from Glendale High School in 1938. At her graduation, she met the love of her life, Willis K. Hirschy and they were married on June 27, 1940.

She always said that she had a "47-year marriage made in heaven." Willis preceded her in October 1987.

In 1989 she moved to Prescott, where she enjoyed her retirement years. Maydell was a minister's daughter and a minister's wife who radiated God's love and shared her Christian faith with everyone she met. She was a gifted communicator: teacher, speaker and writer. She loved gardening, was an avid reader and was interested in world affairs until her death.

Above all, Maydell was a loyal, loving daughter, wife, mother and grandmother who took great joy in her family. Her large church family will also miss her.

Maydell leaves three loving children, Esther Moors, David Hirschy and Kathryn Evans; and three grandchildren, Mark Moors, Scott Moors and Lacy Evans; in addition to one brother, Barkley Evans Jr.

A celebration of her life will be 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 14, 2008, at Faith Assembly of God, 1441 W. Glendale Avenue, Phoenix, Ariz.

Internment will follow at Resthaven Cemetery, Glendale, Ariz.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hope that Heals, 521 W. Lynn Street, Springfield, Missouri, 65802
