The Columbian, Vancouver, Washington Thursday, November 30, 1995 INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - A charter member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Vancouver, Gladyce A. Bjerke-Happell, 90, died Nov. 24, 1995, of congestive heart failure. Mrs. Bjerke-Happell was born March 24, 1905, in Twin Valley, Minn. She had lived in Vancouver more than 30 years before moving to Arizona about 1975. Known for her sense of humor, she enjoyed church activities and especially the church bazaar. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Helmer O. Bjerke and Wallace L. Happell, and sons, Laurin D. Bjerke and Gerald L. Bjerke. Survivors include three sons, Douglas S. of Vancouver, Wash., Harvey B. of Billings, Mont., and Lee A. of Indianapolis, Ind.; a brother, Herm Presting of Seattle; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. A private graveside service will be at Mountain View Cemetery in Prescott, Ariz. Memorial contributions may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church building fund, 8310 MacArthur Blvd., Vancouver, WA 98664. |
