Walter Calvin Manderson

Reverend Walter Calvin Manderson, born February 28, 1926 in Tuscaloosa, AL and a long time resident of Mobile, died Monday, February 20, 2012 in a local hospital.

Reverend Manderson pastored numerous churches in Louisiana, Arizona and Alabama. He was a graduate of Grand Canyon College in Phoenix in 1965. He served as Associational Director of Missions, Judson Association.

After retiring from the Baptist ministry, Walt retired from Radney Funeral Homes after 15 years of service.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Cleaveland Seay Manderson and Laura Hester Manderson; his wife of 56 years, Barbara June McCrory Manderson; three sisters, Margie Atchison, Leola Marie Brasher and Eula Mae Criswell; and two brothers, Earnest Manderson and Billy Jack Manderson. Survivors include his wife, Lois Spence Manderson of Mobile; sons, David (Katrina) Manderson of Mobile and Mark (Ana) Manderson of San Antonio, Texas; sister, Betty Cunningham McDole of Saraland; brother, Virgil Manderson; step-son, Daniel A. (Nancy) Spence; four grandchildren, Deanna Manderson of Glen Burnie, Maryland, Alan (Cindy) Manderson of San Antonio, Texas, Monica (Sean) Wells of Monroe, Louisiana, and Alvin (Yon) Manderson of San Antonio, Texas; step-grandchildren, Daniel P. (Tiffany) Spence and Carrie (Eric) Spence Nadeau; two grandsons-in-law, Roberto Gonzalez and Michael (Jamie) Gonzalez of San Antonio, Texas; five great-grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Funeral services were held from the chapel of Radney Funeral Home on Saturday, February 25, 2012. Interment in Mobile Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to your favorite charity. Condolences may be offered at: www.radneyfuneralhome-mobile.com
