Celia Alice (Cochran) Newhall

A funeral was held Friday, Oct. 1, 2004, in Newberg Free Methodist Church for Celia Alice Newhall, who died Sept. 26 at age 88.

Celia Alice Cochran was born July 2, 1916, in Decatur, Ill.

In 1950, she moved to Arizona, where she was a homemaker in several towns before graduating from Grand Canyon College and receiving a master's degree from Northern Arizona University. She was an elementary school teacher and then retired to Glendale and Cottonwood, Ariz. She moved to Portland in 1989 and to Newberg in 1994.

In 1940, she married Paul B.; he died in 2003.

Survivors include her daughters, Susan Lyon and Joanne Ransom; son, John; sister, Helen Nelson; 16 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren. Two sons, Charles and Harvey, died in infancy.
