Jeanne Beatrice Franklin

Jeanne Beatrice Franklin died March 24, 2006, at her home in Prescott. She was born Aug. 22, 1924, in Baldwin, N. Y.; the daughter of Louis Harry and Josephine Beatrice (Reid) Franklin. Jeanne was 81 years old.

Jeanne graduated from Baldwin High School in 1942 and graduated from the Crane School of Music in Potsdam, N.Y. Jeanne was a gifted soprano soloist with a great love of all music, particularly opera. She sang with the Nuremburg Opera House in Germany and for the Saure's Requirem under the baton of Nadia Boulanger.

In the late 1940's and early 1950's Jeanne taught at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Arizona, starting the Opera Department.

She spent 30 years teaching and directing music in schools on Long Island, N.Y. Jeanne retired to Arizona 22 years ago.

Jeanne is survived by brothers Robert of Sebring, Fla., and Girard of New York City, N.Y; and numerous nephews and nieces.

She was preceded in death by her brother Louis. She was beloved by all.

Private cremation at Bradshaw Crematory with the family having private services.

Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home is meeting the needs of the family.
