George Dalton, 78, of Cottonwood, Ariz., died Jan. 16, 2007.

Dalton was preceded in death by sisters Annie V. Dalton and Laura L. Burnett; and is survived by his wife, Jane Dalton; children, John [Judy] Dalton, Kelly Dalton, “Rocky” Dalton and Denise Bodam; a brother, Richard; sisters Mary Lou, “Sis”; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

A memorial service takes place at Westcott Funeral Home, 1013 E. Mingus Ave., Cottonwood, Ariz., on Saturday, Jan. 27, at 1 p.m.

Departed on Jan. 16, 2007 and resided in Cottonwood, Ariz.

George E. Dalton, 78, resident of Cottonwood, Arizona, passed away on Tuesday, January 16, 2007. He was born September 27, 1928 to Richard and Wilma (Fulcher) Dalton in Fort Stockton, Texas. George was raised in Alpine, Texas, which he loved, and has always held a tender spot in his heart.

George was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, who served his country following WWII as a Fireman, and received the WWII Victory Medal.

Professionally, he was an operating engineer and heavy equipment operator, in the construction industry. Prior to his retirement, George dedicated 55 years to the Local Union 428, located out of the Verde Valley; during which time, 10 years were spent working in Alaska.

George loved gardening and his horses, but his life revolved around his family, and the love of his life-his precious wife of 51 years, Jane E. Dalton. George will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor, his clever wit, and his deep devotion to the ones he loved.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and his sisters, Annie V. Dalton and Laura L. Burnett. He leaves behind his wife, Jane E. Dalton of Cottonwood, Arizona; his sons, John L. Dalton with his wife Judy, and Kelly B. Dalton, all of Cottonwood, Arizona; his daughters, “Rocky” Dalton of Apache Junction, Arizona, and Denise Bodam of Mesa, Arizona; his brother, Richard Dalton; his sisters, Mary Lou Hunsaker, and Marcella “Sis” Theune, all of Kearny, Arizona; as well as, 6 grandchildren, Nathan Hitson, Jamie Lynn Ryan, Elizabeth Rochelle Carnall, Jonathon David Bodam, Christine Jane “C.J.” Mondragon, and Victoria Marie Mondragon; and 1 great-grandchild, Jayson Roy Carnall.

A Memorial Service, honoring the life of George, will be held at Westcott Funeral Home on Saturday, January 27, 2007 at 1:00pm. Following the Memorial Service, George will be taken home to Texas, where he will be laid to rest on the family ranch.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made, in George’s name, to any local charitable organization.
