Ricardo Rosales, 83, of Hayden, passed away peacefully after a short illness on Friday, Jan. 23, 2009 at Oro Valley Northwest Medical Center, Tucson. Ricardo was born and raised in Hayden, and served in World War II with the U.S. Army in 1943. He worked for Kennecott Copper Corporation as a carpenter from 1946 until 1986. His love of carpentry continued long after he retired; with him often helping family and friends with their homes. He was a kind and unselfish man, who was always ready and willing to help others who were in need. He loved watching old western movies, listening to mariachi music, photography, traveling, and making his famous, delicious menudo. He is survived by his daughter, Genevieve (Rudy) Grijalva and two grandchildren Steven and Ariana Grijalva, all of Hayden; two sisters Margarita Figueroa of Tucson and Maria Louisa Yslas of Hayden; and many nieces and nephews; including niece Esperanza Contreras and nephew Henry Figueroa Sr., both of Tucson and both raised by Ricardo. He was preceded in death by his mother, Elena M. Rosales; sisters Leonor Arzaga and Esther Acuna; brother, Andres Rosales; and niece, Teresita Romero whom he also raised. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Jan. 31, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Hayden. Rosary will be at 10 a.m., with the Mass following at 10:30 a.m. He will be laid to rest at Mountain View Cemetery in Hayden. Ricardo was a wonderful, and beautiful, soul who will be greatly missed. Those who have memories with him will be forever cherished. |
