Margaret Marie Russell

Born in Hugoton, Kansas on Feb. 29, 1916.
Departed on Aug. 14, 2008 and resided in Cottonowood, Ariz.

Margaret Marie Russell, 92, 8 year resident of Cottonwood and former resident of Phoenix and Tucson, passed away on Thursday, August 14, 2008.

Margaret was one of four children born to Jerry Hollice and Bessie Florence (Gustason) Zeiler. She was born February 29, 1916 in Hugoton, Kansas. She was a graduate of Del Norte High School located in Del Norte, Colorado.

Prior to her retirement, Margaret worked as an operator and office manager for Mountain States Tel and Tel Co.; which is now Qwest. She enjoyed collecting family photographs; making audio/music tapes for her friends and family; playing bridge and poker; working on crossword puzzles; as well as, sewing.

Margaret was a member of the Mountain View United Methodist Church. She was known and appreciated for her independence and good health.

In 1953 she was preceded in death by her husband, Lyman F. Joels, and her second husband, Raymond G. Russell passed away in 1972. Margaret is also preceded in death by three brothers, Jerry Jr., Harold "Gus", and Harry Zeiler; as well as, her parents.

Margaret leaves behind her sons, Lyman Joels, Jr. with his wife, Cheryl of Huntsville, Alabama, and Jerry Joels with his wife, Natalie of Cornville. Seven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren also survive her.

In lieu of flowers, donations made in Margaret's name can be sent to the House of Ruth, 1198 E. Mingus Ave., Cottonwood, Arizona, 86326.

A Memorial Service will be held at Westcott Funeral Home in Cottonwood on Saturday, August 23, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. Following the memorial, a reception will be at the El Rio de Oro Mobile Home Park.
